Fortissima Cotton Stretch

I’ve got three bags of Fortissima Socka Mexiko – Cotton Stretch to try out.  Here’s one ball from each bag:

41% Superwash Wool  39% Cotton  13% Nylon  7% Polyester (the stretch component)

460 m/100g

I don’t knit a lot of stretch yarn. Patons Cotton Stretch is the only other that I recall off hand.

I’m a little blown away at how small the socks ‘appear’ when I use my usual pattern tensions and number of rows. Yet, they do indeed stretch out to fit appropriately.

Here’s how the first samples knit up for me:

Colour #35 - Curry; Large

Colour #37 - Tropical; Medium

Colour #39 - Kiwi; Small

The yardage is generous. I haven’t knit an XL pair yet, but I’m certain I can do so with one ball, judging by the amount I have left over from the large pair.

  1. Love the stretch cotton sock yarn.It is not the nicest to hand knit with but great on sock machine & makes a nice fitting summer sock.Yes I still hand knit the odd pair at night when there are no toes to close.
